@igorkrupitsky How do you think you would challenge what your neighbor is building in court if there was no land-use plan?

How is building hundred of thousands of homes for speculators that sit empty and raise home prices, only to dump them to send prices into a tailspin, good for the economy? I'm pretty sure that's one of contributors to the current economic crisis.

Note: I don't necessarily support Ammendment 4, and am leaning towards voting "no."

@tiberianfiend, Good point. However, it would not be economically feasible someone to build a non-residential nuisance-causing entity next to my house. It would be too costly. We also have the court system to deal with such cases.

In any case, I agree that there are two sides to this issue. I just happened to be on the side that thinks that erosion of the properly rights is a bad thing for the economy.

@igorkrupitsky So, if someone built a garbage dump, a noisy factory, or perhaps a giant building that shades your house for most of the day, next to your property, you'd be perfectly OK with that? How about a shopping center that creates tons of traffic and clogs the roads outside of your house so you can't get out of your driveway? Or perhaps a bar or a strip joint with creeps coming and going at all times of the night?

They said banning plastic bags in California was a job killer and they voted no.

So let's do wrong by the environment for the sake of jobs and money...?

Why are there the local comprehensive land use plans in the first place? Shouldn’t you be allowed to do anything you want with your land? What’s the phrase: “It’s a free country” if other people, that don’t own your property, get to tell you what to do with it?

It's a scam. This amendment is a job killer. the wording looks nice but in reality its ANOTHER bureaucratic oversight that will kill all progress. TRUST ME......
