The Story of Chinese Character : 夜(漢字的故事 : 夜)

夜 depicts a man stretching his body, the moon is on the right while a line pointing at his armpits is on the left. This "man" can also be seen as the god of night.
The moon is the most obvious celestial body at night. The areas beneath the armpits are sunless thus dark and so is the night.
