All right, after a lot of pestering and posts from TheWorldisJCK, he finally influenced me to do Georgia Tech's official fight song, "Ramblin' Wreck from Georgia Tech." Yes, just like the University of North Texas, there are two names for the campus—the students and student-athletes are called the Yellow Jackets, but they are also called, collectively, The Ramblin' Wreck (or "Reck".) Interestingly, it is also referred to the famed Model A gold automobile made by Ford in the late 1920's. There is a story to this car, as the student body back then adored the look of it. To cut a long story short (You can read more on Wikipedia or the Georgia Tech websites.), there was a need for a mascot for the students, and this Ford brand was salvaged from a junkyard and was refurbished. It adorns the gold and the GT logo on its doors- it is a fixture to the university.
I do believe that the university there picked the animal from the vespidae family because like bees (related, but not closely related,) they are hard working insects maintaining their hive and defending it. The actual history is that the fans and football team wear yellow jackets to support their team. Do note that though the animal is spelled "yellowjacket" (no space), but the reason why this species of wasp was picked was because of a UGA-GT game in 1906. The Atlanta Journal helped Georgia Tech pick its animal mascot when it ran the caption in a cartoon, "Someone's going to get stung!"

When you hear someone singing the fight song, you will definitely hear a lot of reference to alcoholic beverages; every university will have some sort or celebrating with some sort of alcohol involved, so why not incorporate it prominently? The lyrics that the song was derived from was from the 1895 song "Son of a Gambolier," by Charles Ives, which is a drinking song that originated in England and Scotland. To me, I do like the second verse of the fight song to show school spirit. Now, I did put all caps for the hatred of Georgia because it seems better. I will not be surprised if the song is played, the student section or alums will shout this area of the song. :)
Do note that the music is also used for the Mass. Institute of Technology, which is a Division 3 school. (Sorry, I do NCAA D-1 schools only!)

I do not consider my fight song vids to be karaoke, it is meant to educate singers exactly where you have to sing when you hear the song, so practice is useful when you view my vids-it is good to see the videos over and over until you master the song. This is a somewhat difficult song for first timers, but practice is the key. (Admittedly, I had a little bit of trouble putting words to the music because it is somewhat fast, and it would be nearly impossible to read the song lyrics if I did break some of the lengthy stanzas into shorter ones.)
How much do you like this one? I'd like to see your comments IF they have no profanity, or that it does not verbally attack me or other people. Thanks for watching!

  • @excelsior27 You have the history of the Yellow Jacket wrong, Before Tech had a football team, GT was invited to an Auburn-Georgia game to root for Auburn. To identify that they were Tech students, they wore yellow jackets and coats. Atlanta called the students 'Yellowjackets' It stuck, and the rest is history...

  • @excelsior27 After the last Go Jackets, Trust me, I should know...

  • @excelsior27 Drink! Get Naked! is the student's naughty addition to Fight! Win! I normally say it myself.

  • @TheWorldisJCK That's Okay.

  • @excelsior27 you should have added the White and Gold too

  • @excelsior27 Well, you were my first subscription, and sorry to annoy you, I just grew impatient...

  • @TheWorldisJCK That's the plan-I'm going to do every college that has a fight song that I can download from. So eventually, GT was going to be up; but it seems you wanted it NOW.

And I could tell that you are an avid watcher of my fight song vids. Thanks for the support. :)

  • @excelsior27 It seemed like you were doing EVERY college exept my future alma mater, it was rather frustrating...
