TITANIC replica from the movie

Could have saved themselves some trouble if they had built the port side, rather than the starboard side ! The whole Southampton shot had to be filmed and flipped over to give the impression the historically correct side was landward - and so every prop with directional bias "letters" for example, had to be be reversed also- what a nightmare !

I once told my friend that they didn't find the titanic, fix it, repaint it and just sink it again... I told him it was a replica, and he just said so they made a replica and sunk that one? -.-

@pCneter I read at one point they were going to make a replica ship, but it didn't have enough support, plus one of the survivors was against it.
-
what did they do with it its kinda hard to just destroy did they sink it

@ThePrisoner12345 And it would still sink, since it was only the starboard side of the ship, with an open bottom.

The set suffered water damage because the production crew actually tilted it for the sinking scenes. It was one of the most expensive items in the film's budget. The production went well over budget which forced 20th Century Fox to partner with Paramount and split production costs and distriubution rights.
The set was built to do a job for the film -- not be saved as a tourist attraction. Very few film sets and backdrops get saved. They're scrapped after filming.

I saw this video back in 97 at Foxploration down in Rosarito BC

"Oh shit, so much work, and we builed it in a wrong direction, what should we do?", asked Cameron,
"Captian Schettino reports on duty, sir!!!"

i would just put a big motor in thet thing -.-
Too bad they did not keep the set open it as a hotel a full scale non sailing replica would be a great educational tool for anyone I would love to stroll the decks of a replica ,
