  • I'm a barber/stylist student with only 600 hours completed. Just wanted to thank you for your time on this very informing, and easy to understand video. I appreciate the time you took to explain each and every step as thoroughly as you did. Although I was under the impression that, for short layers you cut at 90, and for long layers, you cut at 180, or 45. Is this the case?

  • @Quote2020Hindsight Great question Quote2020Hindsight. Believe it or not, you can do any of those angles for long or short layers. That is the beauty of creating new styles. What I mean is if you leave the hair long in length, you can cut the layer in any of the angels you mentioned above. Each angle will give the hair a different shape/look creating a new style for each angle. Does this make sense? Have fun with the angles on long or short and enjoy creating new looks. :)

  • Great video. I'm cutting my hair myself and it's about the same lenght as your wife.I try to do something like you did. I'm just confused as how is the top part (what angle you cut) since you cut the back layers a bit round instead of square. Would you have a diagram of this cut, and the average lenght of th guide line? it would be really great!

  • @SingingTrainer Hello SingingTrainer, Great question! As for the top, I simply over directed all of the hair from the front hair line back to the crown where I cut the top of my layer. This is now my guide for the top, does this make sense? As for the length of the guide line, it simply is what ever length I cut at the crown when that hair was combed back. As for a diagram, I am super sorry as I do not have one. Hope this helps out and thank you again!

  • @ProStylistTV You are a fabulous stylist and have a great voice to listen to as you educate! I watched your long layered video and finally learned how to correct the steps I was creating when cutting layers and could not figure out what I was doing wrong. You explained " to curve a little" I was very happy with my cut for the first time. Thank you for giving back and sharing your knowledge. I am looking forward for your next videos, until next time, take care!
