Romania finally got rid of the communist dictatorship in December 1989 through a violent Revolution. The response of the communist leadership to the protests which started at Timisoara against the communist regime was to stop them with the help of firearms. The same things happened at Bucharest too, but the people who went to the streets to fight were many and full of anger against the dictatorship, so the Army went by their side. To create more harm to the people that turned their backs, Nicolae Ceausescu, the dictator who fleed soon after the begining of the Revolution, spread rumors such as the arab terrorists who came to kill the romanians, the poisoned water... Those rumors lead to confusion and chaos in the major cities of Romania and had as a result romanians protesters killing each other. Hundreds of people died because of those rumors, but because of them we can be happy for our liberty and rights.

This is the story of a private named Costi during the 1989 Revolution in Bucharest. The movie is named "Paper will be blue" and illustrates very well, after my opinion, what happened on those decisive days of December.

I do not own this movie. It has been made by Multimedia Est in partnership with Antena 1.

  • @waypor1 Regardless of terminology used, governments and other political authorities will always try to control the population, by using the very things you've mentioned. The only difference is that, having experienced its full effects and still walking every day by buildings built in that era, people on my side of the world don't take anything for granted and are constantly on the lookout for anyone trying to strip their hard-earned (often at the price of bloodshed) civil rights away from them.

  • @crawlinghybrid2001 I hear that, Its got all to do with the illusions of freedom and the loss of the peoples voice, and truthfully its all based in economics or agricultural despotism government is mostly a game of Charades, smoke and mirrors in the games of distraction.

  • @waypor1 Well, being born at the dusk of 50 years of Communism and learning from people that fully experienced it first hand, I know enough to understand on the subject, including the relativity of this video's title.

Communism is just one form of opression that has always manifested itself globally or locally in many different ways, up until this very day.

  • @crawlinghybrid2001 Nothing really just thought I would mess with your head, sory mate

  • @waypor1 What does that have to do with my post?

  • @crawlinghybrid2001 The fall of communism is an illusion....Communism isnt what people think its when people loose their authority to a machine of government

  • @euroluv It's not a documentary, it's a fictional film based on actual events. This is a documentary: watch?v=lXNl7nGqvAE

  • Great documentary, terrible translation.

  • Two days ago, on day 1 of August, 34 radio stations were shutdown (taken out of the air) by the dictatorial government of hugo chavez in Venezuela.

Ironically the numbers on the armored car are the same, 1 8 -34, day 1, month 8 and 34 radio stations.
