Yes. it's an exercise not a symphonic suite. And exercises require repetition to perfect them. Just like building muscle you must repeat the exercise. That's the whole point of this lick.

I duno why people slag video lessons. Someone tries to share knowledge, and people can't seem to realise it's a demonstration video. If they want to hear a song, they should look up a song :S Anyway I like your techniques, One of them looks like the normal diminished scale, played with different phrasing.

I don't know what everyone's so upset about. I think it sounds pretty cool.

I just don't have the time to sit and run scales to that speed. But I do try to play what I can well.

Great video! Great playing. I'm inspired to practice more.

@BrevSullivan Thanks for the reply.
Yes, I understand these are exercises (I do them myself) but I have yet to find a way to incorporate them into my playing musically. I'll check out your CD... whether I'll be able to comprehend what you're doing, by ear, is another matter :-P
And the right-hand technique? Some info on that would be much appreciated (I'm sure not just by me!) but by any guitarist hoping to get up to speed who doesn't find the 'conventional' way of holding a pick natural.
TIA

@HakonSoderholm Why don't you post a musical video of your own and we can see what you are talking about. Cheers.
Hey Brev, any chance of showing how you incorporate these kinds of scales into solos or more melodic lines?
Also... interesting (ie, unusual!) picking technique you've got there. Is it the 'George Benson' technique? A video explaining that would be great, too.
Thanks in advance.

@BrotherDevious I stated in the video that these are 'Unusual' modes borrowed from the modern jazz and bebop. I'm using whole tones and whole half diminished scales. Not often used in rock but rather jazz and fusion. I'm shredding them here to show that there are alternate scales to use rather than the predictable. Inspired by my teacher Jazz legend Joe Diorio. To hear an example in a song check out my CD on itunes "5 minutes 'till stage" by my band Featured on Fridays. Song: Scrabmlin rabbits
