Fanvid contest "For the rest of us" (RESULTS POSTED)

I have two co-judges. Heathdances (Heathra!) and spikesbint (angelfish69)! Squee! Heather, Angela and I will be judging this contest together. (Heathra currently uses Final Cut Pro, BTW, Angela is fluctuating between Adobe Premiere and Corel VideoStudio.)

I've been wanting to do a vidding contest for a long time, but what made me do it NOW was that I saw one too many vidding contests that said "Sony Vegas Only" and as a Mac vidder, that rubbed me the wrong way. Grrr! (LOL)

RULES:

1. One vid per person.
2. No stealing. (No clip theft, which is taking little snippets of someone else's video to edit into your own video.)
3. Good quality video. (Meaning, it doesn't look like you downloaded blurry clips from YouTube, the audio quality is good, there are no distracting black bars suddenly popping up where they don't belong, no faces that are unnaturally thin or fat because the video frame size is wrong.)
4. Slide shows are welcome, but the "good quality" rule applies, plus I want to see interesting slide shows that look like you put some thought into them.
5. No explicit or excessively suggestive content, no bad language, no excessive violence. NO incest slash.
6. Video must be AT LEAST 1:15 in length. (***UPDATED NEW RULE***)
7. Can be a new or old video.

If you submit a video that does not fit into the rules, I will message you privately and explain to you why it does not qualify and ask you to submit another video. (Please don't be hurt if I explain to you that your video does not qualify, especially if it's for *quality* reasons. I am very serious about that in particular.)

WHAT I'M LOOKING FOR:
1. Nicely edited videos. They can be to slow songs, they can be fast songs, they can have a lot of effects or no effects. In my own videos I sometimes use effects, I sometimes don't. I think either can be good. What I want to see is that you put *thought* into your video idea.
2. Any fandom (TV show, movie) except anime. (I never watch anime, sorry.)
3. Good quality. I love seeing a clear picture that looks great even in HD!
4. Any kind of music, I love all kinds. Country, rap, Classical, even polka! LOL. Give me your best shot.
5. I have to be honest, I'm not a big viewer of slash, but I know there are some really fun slash videos out there. As long as they're more fun and light, and not too explicit or suggestive, I can handle them.

AWARDS GIVEN:
First, second and third place video, and possibly some honorable mentions. I will make a special award graphic which you can display on your blog or web site and I'll list the winners on my website, (delicateblossom.net) as well as make a special winners' video for YouTube.

AWARDS GIVEN IF FIVE QUALIFYING VIDS ARE ENTERED (meaning, 5 qualifying Richard Armitage vids entered for the Richard Armitage award to be given, 5 Mac vids for the Macintosh award to be given, and so forth. More than one award given for any category with more than 8 qualifying entries.)

1. Best Richard Armitage-themed video (North & South, Robin Hood, Spooks, whatever).
2. Best Period Drama vid.
3. Best video made on a Macintosh. (Separate awards for iMovie & Final Cut if there are enough entries.)
4. Best video made with Adobe Premiere or Corel VideoStudio. (Separate awards given for each program if there are enough entries.)
5. Best slide show.
6. Best video made with Windows Movie Maker.
7. Most unique music choice.
8. Best effects.
9. Best editing using little or no effects.
10. Best HD video (Blu-Ray quality, 720p or 1080).

I'm covering a lot of bases there because I don't know how many entries I'll be getting or what. Whatever happens, let's just HAVE FUN!

Deadline is July 20th. Can be a new or old video. IF YOU WANT TO HAVE YOUR VIDEO QUALIFY FOR "Best video made on a Macintosh," "Best video made with WMM," "Best video made with VideoStudio or Premiere," you must specify what software you used when you enter your video. Thanks!

Aww, I have two videos *almost* done but they wouldn't have been finished by today. So at the last minutes I'm submitting "Aragorn & Arwen - Beautiful", edited with Adobe Premiere. Thanks :)

@JaguarJedi22 LOL, I'm a bit confused! You can only enter one video, so I accepted the Aragorn & Arwen one since it was the second one you submitted. If you want to have the Legend video instead, let me know and I'll accept that one and remove the Aragorn & Arwen one. Thanks!

I hope i made it time =D I wanted to do something new vid for contest but the vid didnt turn the way i wanted so i had to entered another vid " North & South - The Only Exception" which i hope well do quite as well. I used vegas pro and adobe premiere. Best wishes. Sage

Hi! Being an Adobe Premiere Elements user - this is a wonderful idea for a contest! I sometimes feel like a loner out there among all the SV vidders - LOL!. Anyway, I tried to finish an RA vid to submit to this contest, but it's not exporting right...so I'm going to try and submit my vid to "Leap Year". Hope it's OK and not too late! Thanks!
