We wake up to find our world covered in snow. A storm has just passed, and more are on the way. We've emerged from our hiding places and are stretching
our muscles and minds. Our shovels in hand, we survey the situation, still
groggy from a long hibernation. The questions of the day fill our minds: Where
does our soul hang out after death? Do we reincarnate? And if so, where do we
really come from or go to? If I lose my child, can I save another life by
donating organs? In a sense we're under the snow we're clearing from the
sidewalk on this bright day. We use the shovel to uncover ourselves as we clear
the paths to access our homes and the roads that lead us outward. We cannot
proceed without shoveling, this we feel intuitively.
The time it takes to shovel, though, nags at us a bit; it's annoying. Can't we
just be done already? It would be so nice to simply stop and regard the
pristine beauty around us. But it's not time for that yet. Not just that, anyway.
Those of us who spent the time cocooned processing ourselves and our places
within life see that. We 'get it'. This is a yourney and there are moments that
need to be experienced, traveled through, though we might feel bored or
sluggish along the way. Those who planted no seeds in years past feel
indecisive. We call these the 'doubters', and they busy themselves redecorating
and re-arranging their homes and lives to 'fit in', unsure whether to go forward
into the unknown (insert image/idea/reality here), or back into the known.
Another group of people just 'don't get it'. They cling to what they know: the
way it's always been. They're the ones that go out after the storm to first free
their trophy cars from the snow, making sure their precious BMW is safe.
As you can imagine, a doubter, an I don't get it, and an I got it in one room
don't mingle all too well. People are easily irritated with one another and
relations between groups itch and become raw. All this dissonance makes it
clear that the concept of ego has to go; we cannot proceed together as a team
before that. So more of us revolt against the ego. And ego fights back -- that's
no joke. This is a year of understanding what the struggle entails. Do you have
your Hazardous-Materials suit on? There's likely to be a lot of emotional fallout
from these battles. Have you checked your gear before starting? In a fight, ego
is quite the barroom brawler; it will do anything to survive -- even steal the last
piece of bread from a loved one. Fucking Hell! In the harsh light of Real Life,
we see ego for the bruising dictator it is. And realizing it's capable of such theft
makes even more of us reassess the price we pay as tithe to it.
Still, when sizing up ego, it's no wonder why some of us choose to turn and
run -- back home, to the car, a relationship, a new this or new that --
pretending that nothing is happening, that everything is going to be okay. Of
those who don't get it, some don't want to get it. Others who stood and fought
will realize a simpler existence -- they get it. Perhaps they will become nomads
of a sort, moving around, unattached to things, places or people. On the
sidelines the doubters hmm and haw. Some move to a new city or take a new
job; in short they may seek to change themselves within the old paradigm
rather than flow freely into the unknown (insert image/idea/reality here).
Others will become inspired to step into the game and fight.
This year is not without struggle. Many of us just see the struggle as part of
the process of becoming, a yourney that doesn't end until death. Occurrences
causing emotional upheavals like 11 September will very much continue, and
will allow more and more of us to open our eyes to new realities. And the
anxiousness around these events will fall away for those who get it because
we've integrated them into our being. We see we're a part of the everyday, the
beauty of simple moments, perceiving the universe in a dewdrop.
It all comes down to perception. Who is the 'I' perceiving? And what does 'it'
wish to perceive? The result can be quite a laugh if we look at reality with
'modern glasses' and quite sad if we don't. The distinction is living with an
unfolding paradigm as a conscious participant. Things don't happen to you.
Things just happen.
Perfection is. http://WWW.TRENDSLATER.COM
