I was a Roman Catholic for the first 20 years of my life, and I went through a very difficult agnostic period between 21-24, so this argument has no effect on me at all. I sought god with "sincerity of heart" and "purity of intention"! The bastard didn't want to be my friend, so I say fuck him--or her!

I was Jehovah's Witness for 30 years, man thats one big headfuck. My awakening was difficult too, to the point I actually went through a kind of psychological deconstruction, it was a horrible time, and I also had sincerity and purity of intention, I would cry in my prayers, wanting so badly for someone to be there. If that isn't asking with a sincere motive, I do not know what is.

@eequalsfb if he answers now, but I am thinking about some other shit, like 1000 different things in few seconds, which is just normal for normal brain, am I getting the answers like 1;100000000000000000 times? And if I got answer, it's like happening of that thing is 1:00000000000000000 it means, that it's almost the same as saying it was going to happen anyway. Do you feel what I thought!

@Eoneone374 That pretty much sums up the whole origin of most religions. Reading the bible with the background knowledge of cults, their functioning, emotional manipulation, did not make me form the image of a fun-loving jesus, as I was taught during youth.

The whole "belief before you can see" is just a buffer to try and keep outsiders and scientists from breaking down the fantasy aspect of their religion. It's remarkable how versatile it is. If a person quits a religion, they will just say he/she never had a strong belief in the first place.
The only so called evidence they have of miracles is so dubious, or has no historical evidence whatsoever. They're fabricated stories with a clear knowledge on how to create a hive mind mentality.

No, I was only joking about the praying. Since I was a small child and frogmarched to Sunday School, I didn't believe in the biblical stories, God, Jesus, Daniel, Noah or any of the other fairy tales. I'm not confused; quite the contrary, I am quite clear, resolute and happy in my atheism.

I am not, by any means, apologetic about religion (any of them). I was just illustrating how religion is man-made and deliberately rigged to serve human purposes (most of which are ill founded, the rest just pathetically worthless).

@brokenscimitar Well...Thank Goodness!, I didn't have to pray to anyone to make me into an atheist. I became one on my own. It took me years of studying and understanding (history, science, etc.), to unlearn things that I was brought up with. On that said: What is the point of your comment? Seems to me you are a bit confused.

I asked a Christian if it was alright to pray to God to prove himself by allowing the air out of the left rear tyre of my bigot neighbour ... alas, she thought that wasn't appropriate. I can not see how a God that enjoyed transforming a woman into a pillar of salt wasn't looking forward to such a modest practical joke on my asshole neighbour whilst converting me in the process. Damn ... what a missed chance.
