A legendary musical "Tanz der Vampire" almost prepared for the performance on the St.Petersburg stage. A remake of a film of Roman Polanski - it's already second Viennese version of musical comedy. We peeped behind the scenes.
Masters, who worked on the european version of the musical, teach dancers and singers, who passed the casting.
"First I want to say, that a work in Russia isn't different from a work abroad. To tell the truth, it takes a bit more time, because they need to translate everything, as I don't know Russian. But anyway, if they chose worthy people, then to work with them is as easy, as it is in Europe, because they are professionals.
I believe in the success of the musical, all the actors are very motivated and talented" - tells Brigitte Derks, an assistant of the director.
The success of "Tanz der Vampire" can't deny even the most ardent sceptic. In 8 countries of the world since 1997 millions of audience saw the production. Decorations change for 75 times onstage, more than 220 original costumes are prepared for participants. Onstage there are at once 33 people involved, who must not only to sing and dance, but also to perform.
"I work with dancers and singers. And I think, the most complicated elements in the production of Callahan are made in very interesting style. On the whole, it's not even just a dance, Dennis managed to show onstage real vampires" - says Vanni Viscusi, an assistant of the chief ballet master.
"It will be difficult for dancers - you can't make mistakes, you need to know precisely, what you should do and, the main thing, where! Otherwise it could be dangerous" - clarify Brigitte Derks.
"Tanz der Vampire" in Russia will be something special, promise the organizers. They intend to repeat the european success of the show in September 2011 onstage of the St.Petersburg theatre of Musical comedy.
"Yes, Vampires are very sexual and, at the same time, scary" - confesses Vanni.
