i must say for all newbies & oldtimers coming back to running/excercises, we owe all who post good distinguishing differences in form/technique here at YouTube a bigggggg thank you. i've been trying to lower my 5k time for mths now with training alone and VOILA!, after watching several vids on form the "light went on" finally & i concentrated enuff to lower a 9+min pace to just under 8 mins!!!
Just happened 10/1/11, maybe cool a.m. hr in FL helped some too, dunno yet.
6 mins in sights now.

I have to admit that this video was very informative. Running form does matter. The comparison between the leader and the following runners was cool.

@Thjeko Watching him run looks painful. You explaining his mechanics sounds even more painful, lol. Thanks for the great vids!! Keep them up!!

Thanks for the vid!
That last runner has some severe overpronation.

@tubejoe69 Yes and his knocking-in knees, due to weak gluts (exorot.) add to that. There's some hip instability as well (right>left) which can be seen by the excessive dipping of the left (swing) hip when he transfers his bodyweight over the right support. He spends too long on support which minimizes the benefits from muscle elasticity. It will put high demands on several structures, but most on his m.tibilais post., his achillis (that is leveraged in a valgus angle) and the ITB.
