Guys I need your help. As you can see, my deadlifting technique is horrible -- I don't do them often.

You're probably thinking, "If your form is so bad, when even attempt this amount of weight?" The answer is, this is my first time seeing my deadlift on camera and I never knew my form was this bad.

Anyways...

This movement has always been difficult for me to learn. So if you have any tips, comments or advice they will be greatly appreciated.

(P.S I'm 5'10.5" and I have a 78" wingspan if that means anything)

  • the problem is that you're using a weight belt AND straps i mean when they make exoskeletons for the military are you gonna be wearing that too?

  • Agreed, but I took the straps off before the lift. But right about the belt . Truth is I didn't even need it...it was loose as hell.

  • Uh this is how my personal trainer tells me how to do it (And he holds US records for every type of lifting there is)- ankles very close to the bar, butt down, chest out, look up, hands- one grabbing down on the bar, one grabbing up (I think you did that). That is about it. If you use too much of your back, then well you pretty much will throw it out. And i found that out the hard way...

  • good advice!

  • lololol this nigga just lifted 984390898438743 lbs and they gonna try to tell'em how to do it right.

  • your set up and everything all looked promising, and then your ass shot right up hahaha. still good lift, you pulled that so easily

  • @screwitupthenchopit so you assume if he puts a lot of weight on and does it, that it is the correct way? Looks like he uses his lower back in this one more than the intended legs

  • u drove up with ur ass while shoulders remained stationary.. looked like a romanian/stiff leg deadlift before u started to bring ur shoulders up.. legs locked out a bit early.. bring ur hips and shoulders up at the same time... just some food for thought since u asked.. nice lift btw.

  • what routine do you use bro? also do you use or recommend any supplements. peace

  • *strong as hell

  • damn anyone who deadlifts 2.5 times their bodyweight is strong as well

  • for what it's worth I heard that it's supposed to be a pretty fluid motion, your back should come up while your are legs pressing up. Here you straightened your legs first, then lifted the weight with your back.

  • take of your shoes. so you get lower to the ground. a few centimetres to earn!

  • @kgcage14 well between 0:39 and 0:40

  • pause at 0:39 ..... that was a romanion deadlift!

you moved your knees before the hips and put yourself in postition for a romanian deadlift which you did! Look at videos of the best deadlifters and see how they lift. you have the potential to deadlift alot! unless you were actually trying that? and tcranford gave good advice! one more thing squeeze your glutes as you come up and grip the bar as hard as possible squeezing your triceps. Thats advice from bolton the world record holder
