FYI: The hdd's I am mentioning as "fried" were 1 Seagate 1.5TB "LP" series, 1 Seagate 1TB "LP" series, both 3.5", latest gen and connected with a Fantec case via USB (using their own external power supply) and finally a 2.5" WD Scorpio blue 500GB connected with an AC-Ryan case via USB (powered through the USB port). I never plugged or unplugged any USB device with the player powered on!

This video was made with a Sony DRC-HC17E camcorder. The footage is 100% original and un-edited, except for the voice over I added to provide better quality regarding my comments/description. The original audio captured with my camcorder is still audible in the backround.

So far LG has done nothing to adress ANY of the issues mentioned or shown in these videos. I hope posting the sad truth about their product will shake them and wake them up.

  • So what does this compensation mean?

Did they actually admit they have a faulty line of products? -No.

Did they admit that my specific unit was faulty? -Officially, No.

Did they just make an attempt to "shut me up"? -Officially, No.

You can all make your own assumptions or conclusions.

Their diagnosis for the unit you are watching here was: "The unit did not start up"! They didn't bother at all to determine what exactly was wrong with it.

  • After over 3 months of debate and almost 40 days after signing the settlement deal, a few hours ago LG deposited the full amount of my fried HDD's value to my bank account.

Of course, I'll never be able to recover some of the data, but to my mind I was proven right and I encourage everyone with fried hdd's to file a claim with the authorities, like I did.

  • Im not sure if its my Samsung TV or this player, but seldom it will drop out. Its nowhere near as bad as yours. I had a samsung bluray i bought and it was worse, constant flicker, then i returned same day and picked this LG up. Plugging into port 3 instead of 2 via HDMI seems to have made it flicker alot less. Im thinking its my Samsung LCD, that was repaired once for blown capacitors under warranty

the wifi works well on this LG, netflix is a lil buggy though

  • @bottle2lip if you take a look at parts 2 & 3 of this review, you'll see much worse issues than "just" flickering!

Both my BD570's had serious issues and caused real damage! I was thinking about buying a Samsung 3D bluray now, but your issues got me thinking it over again... which model exactly was your Samsung bluray?

  • No it's not. I've had the previous BD570 for 3 weeks, did all the FW updates and still ended up with fried hdd's and flickering! This one won't even stay on for more than a couple of minutes, as you CLEARLY saw my attempt to download a new firmare was interrupted by the BD570 freezing and shutting down! The other way to attempt an upgrade is via USB but both my latest attempts with my previous model resulted in dead hdd's so that's out of the question.

Out of the box and THAT BAD? Epic BD-FAIL!!

  • I suggest you do a firmware update first and then post a new video. This video is therefore a bit biased. Maybe you can also show if the player is still frying USB drives after the firmware update..
