  • I love Godbole's philosophy, and his eastern inscrutability. Along with Mrs Moore, he is one of the best characters in the book.

  • godbole is comic relief : )

  • Love the monkey man...gave the repressed bitch such a fright...

  • love in a cave, love in a church.... forster was quoting Keats from Lamia - love in a hut

  • Alec Guinness/Godbole and Peggy Ashcroft/Mrs Moore are memorable in very different roles.

Guinness pulls off what what have become easily a Caricature. While Peggy Ashcroft almost convinces us tha Mrs Moore really exists.

James Fox does also a good and understated job in a melancolinc role.

There seem to be endless arguments on what constitutes "fatalism". As it's been explained to me it does NOT necessarily mean to be an excuse to do nothing.

  • MONKEY MAN!!!

  • Good man Fielding!

  • All this rubbish about love.. Ha Ha!

  • ..love in a cave, love in a church..what's the difference? ha ha!
