The cat took the kitten (and probably took them all one by one) to find another location for them. It's their basic instinct. Once you "invade" their territory, they will find another place where they can feel safer. Unlike mother dogs who usually growl on people who touch the puppies, cats quietly protect kitties by hiding and bringing them away from you.

@nusshan If the cat trusts the person handling their babies, they wont abandon them. They wont abandon them if they DONT trust the person handling their babies... they WILL however attack said un-trusted person because cats are EXCELLENT mothers. You ARE right about one thing, they dont think like humans... obviously, they think like cats.

@nusshan Look buster. I have been rescuing animals for the past 15 years and I have NEVER once had a cat abandon her kittens because they were handled by humans from the time they were born. While its true that a mother will abandon her kittens if it becomes ill, they will absolutely NOT do it if you handle them. She may however, obsessively clean them if you handle them too much, and potentially cause them to lick the hair clean off of them.

I would have APPRECIATED if you could even spell to the word, and secondly you throw a fit as if the kittens got molested by the kids. What's wrong with you? Neither the cat nor the kittens will have any emotional trauma from that.
