Actually, no. I just find this whole debate about who is a TRUE operatic singer interesting. There are people who swear that Mario Lanza was the greatest operatic tenor ever and those who swear that he wasn't an operatic tenor at all! (he rarely actually appeared in an opera). Now we have people such as Bocelli, Jenkins (whose voice even I can tell is not first class) and, perhaps, Jaroussky. Since we assume that great pop success is largely luck, similar debates there are less heated.

@larrydonguy I sugeest you focus more on musicianship, which is the main thing that makes a singer. Many wonderful, classically trained voices never made it on stage because they were never given the opportunity. My criterion in listening is, of course, the training of a voice's capabilities but mostly the unique musical inventions a singer occupies to build his phrase and communicate. Especially in CTs, I demand seriousness and respect for their own, completely natural, instrument.
