Funny, people say that but I never thought this resembled YRGM that much.
True, the first few chords sound like YRGM but YRGM's structure is different. It changes keys a few times to reach a "plateau" (in my opinion, another way musically of "speeding up") before hitting that climax and repeating.
IMO DELMG sounds like there's a question mark hanging over it. It has to do with the 7th chords at the end of the lines ("guys", "lies", etc), not the power chords that YRGM is famous for.
What's interesting about this Kinks song is that it has the exact same guitar riffs by Dave as "You Really Got Me". It was originally performed as a demo. But Ray's lyrics for both songs are completely different! I think they performed it around the time the changed the name of the Band from The Ravens to The Kinks.
That's why this song was ditched from their first album in favor of You Really Got Me (which became their first major early hit).
This is a great one in the Kinks' inimitable raw, punky but melodic style. Rare too. Drumming kills me. Thanks for posting.

This has a real Shel Talmy stamp on it, which is a good thing. I'd like to see Ray and Shel get back together, and just kill!
