Gurkha Justice - Is This Fair? .lexlimbu

Home Office announced their plans for Gurkhas who were discharged before 1997 to meet atleast One out of the Five Criteria's in order to seek settlement in the UK.
These are -

:: Three years continuous residence in the UK during or after their service;

:: Close family in the UK;

:: A level 1-3 bravery award (including the Victoria Cross, the Distinguished Service Order and the Military Cross);

:: Service of 20 years or more in the Gurkha brigade;

:: Or a chronic or long-term medical condition caused by, or aggravated by, service in the brigade.

Yep, so true...as other foreign soldiers had that righht but the Gurkhas were excluded from this. Other soldiers from non-EU nations need only a service of 5 years yet the Gurkhas are required 20. Not Fair...

it is outrageous these faithfull and fearless soldiers should be treated like this by our treacherous government, they should know what it feels like to actually serve this country and ask for very little in return. all they are asking for is to live in the uk not thousands of pounds to spend on second homes politicians get to do there job. we should be ashamed of our government for treating our closest friends like this. SIGN THE PETITION!!!

andybaker77, you have chosen your words well. We really do have a 'treacherous government'. I've signed the petition and I've emailed my MP about the plight of our magnificent Gurkhas. I have also had my comments supporting the Gurkhas read out on a national UK radio station. There isn't anything I wouldn't do for the Gurkhas. They are absolutely wonderful!!!!!!!!!
