Advance Wars Day of Ruin C22 The Great Owl SRank 406 part 1

I'm trying a method of recording - Day by Day. It's a little easier for me. I'm too lazy to sync the video and music together; too much work for me.


Strategic Overview- You have a great set of pre-deployed units, too bad the enemy set is much better. To make matter worst, there is The Great Owl. The Great Owl attack the center every turn, any unit within range will take five points damage. As the old saying goes "All is fair in love and war", we will use more dirty tactics to outwit enemy AI.

We must lure the enemy towards The Great Owl line of fire to even the odds. Reposition your fighters to rear and create wall of units near blast zone. In effect, The Great Owl will cause massive casualties on their pre-deployed units. Use your troops to mop up any remaining troops.
***Do not capture northern airport or southern city, this will bait their units out of The Great Owl firing range.

With the playing field even out, let's begin our military campaign towards enemy headquarters. Currently your army is still too small to launch a full-scale assault towards enemy headquarters. Slowly, push your units forward to gain more ground and begin accumulate enough units. Since they no longer have any aerial units or airport, fighter are useless, unless we use them as shields. Bait Anti Air units with Fighters then finish them off with war tank.

Your next step is to positioning your Bomber south of enemy missile unit and attack it. For some strange reason, Anti Air near it won't move at all. Who cares! With northern airport fully secured, build a large army of bombers and bomb them back to stone ages.

(wow its been 2 years since i made that comment). it's not really advance wars when you gotta wait. but when you become better at advance wars, you learn to place your artillery where they should be and although offensive placement is hard, artillery could make a retaliation by your opponent quite hard.

but i totally agree with you, advance wars is quite hard to "advance"

@jlqt5 The thing I dislike about advanced wars as opposed to chess is that in chess attack is often the best form of defence whereas in advanced wars often letting them come to you can be what is crucial in gaining the initial advantage before making an attack.

i managed to complete this first time but it took 49 days and i just slowly steam rolled the enemy

i used the bait idea, worked out great at first, i had a fall back, but i eventually pulled through and capped the factory. after that, it was all downhill. 57 days, and i got 7 points for speed, and some 20 something points for teechnique, but a damn good 117 points for powers, war tanks muther fuckers.

my advice, capture as many cities as you can to make maximum # of war tanks, that will win the battle.

Personally, I got a "B" on this. Once again, I felt it nessasary to completely destroy all her untis. I chocked her in the end, spaming war tanks to surround her HeadQuarters and factory, along with her one city. She had two war tanks just...stuck there. Over 100,000 in funds and not a single way to use them she had. I just kept building bombers in the end, every turn, another bomber and A bike until I could spam a bomber, bike and tank in one turn...Speed is my lowest. Power and tech? Highend.
