This is one of my favorite Mimis singine my favorite song from the London Company. I really love her operatic Outs. This is NOT Broadway, this is the London closing.

Also I'm very sorry I couldn't find a picture of Loraine Velez in the London company so I had to use the London poster.

  • karmine who...alers? is she really 41?

  • Yup, she is.

  • Loraine just rips this song to shreads (in a good way!). One of my favorite audios! The London production just had so much more energy, I feel, than on Broadway, especially "Out Tonight". The band just KILLS. Awsome, thanks for sharing this!

  • I wonder why the London bamd couldn't come to Broadway. I hate the Broadway band now. I think that the way the London production did all the numbers were excellent and represented the feel thas Rent has.

I think on Broadway Loraine is the third oldest person to play Mimi She was 36 years old onr broadway I think ahe was 26-36 in London. But it's very hard to find a Mimi who is 36(or Karmine's age...41) to actually act and sing like she's 19 years old. I give props to Loraine.

  • I can also see there was some Krysten Cummings in her but she puts her own "Loraine like" spin to it.Overall, I think she has style to pull off Mimi.

  • omg shes an amazing mimi

  • ok. i guess i'm just used to ADAM PASCAL (ROX!!!!!!!).

  • The Roger now (Declan Bennette) speaks with a British accent, he doesn't have a speech problem. The Nederlander still has the some of the OBC stuff outside, but the posters for the US productions are still the blue-pink themed version.

  • i know. when i saw in NYC they had the same poster at the nederlander (the Roger now has a speach problem or something).

  • It's more annoying because none of the cast members on the original poster are featured. They could at least attempt to re-create it with the cast they're actually using (look at the Original German cast).

  • every production users the SAME FREAKING POSTER!!!!!!!!!!! its ANNOYING

  • May I also mention that this is the one of the last times Rent was performed correctly in London.

  • Very good point. I guess RENT (stage) fans were just looking for a dedicated adaptation rather than a product that would better translate (as you put it) the story to audiences (so it appeals to them).

  • I had a very hard time with the stage version, but was pleasantly surprised by the film. I think alot of it had to do with production. The movie "cleaned" up what seemed muddled on stage - and while I had house seats - It's story didn't translate as strongly on stage as it did in film. That being said, the story still flies over most people's heads - even at the start of the 21st century.

  • It was popular amongst the fans, but I guess it didn't really appeal to London theatregoers.
