I really like the story of how she was inspired to create her characteristic costume. Until recently, I didn't realize that she hadn't invented it entirely, but that she based it on the women of Bahia. And I also didn't know that earlier in her career, she hadn't used it. In fact it only was just before her first trip to the USA that she first wore it. That's pretty much the only way you see her in her many Hollywood movies.
