Emma's POV:
i stood on the thin railing, a thousand feet up in the air, i didn't dare to look down scared of what i might see, i stood straight, arms stretched out to my sides, a cold Wind blew through the evening air, making the Fall leaves rustle and blow past me down the hard concrete. A single hot tear escaped my eye as it slithered down the pale skin, burning my face. My heart throbbed, as it continued to beat at a fast rate against my chest, never failing to miss a beat. I slowly turned my kneck to the right as i looked for any people.... not a soul. I then shifted my unsteady gace to the left to come to the same conclusion, not one single person. the soles of my feet throbbed against my skin as i balanced myself on the cold hard railing of the bridge. Towering over the Bust streets of New York. I gulped. This was it, i can't take it anymore, I'm done with hurting, crying myself to sleep hoping that he would come save me, and embrace me, taking me back in to his warm loving arms. Everyday to be let down.
I would stare at my phone for ages, waiting patiently every night, for that one single call, to hear that voice one more time. I was dying, He didn't know. i didn't want to tell him. I had let him go, and he had moved on. Not even questioning my sudden urge to break apart our relationship. What we had was long gone. I had two years to live, through pain. it was too late when we had found out, the cancer had already spread. Why not speed up the process, if i jumped, i would save me the pain of a slow agonizing death, and the loss of Nathan. If i backed down, I'd save my family the pain, but they would recover by the time i really was supposed to leave.
Tears started trickling down my face, as my vision blured, i made the mistake of looking down, and my heart rate accelerated at the height, and how far away the ground was. The cars looked smaller than ants as they whizzed by the highway. No idea taht i was about to take my life. I gulped taking in, the weight of what i was just about to do, Just as.....
The Sound of quick brisk footsteps, filled my ears. i could hear them getting closer to where I was every ticking second. No, not now. Please, i readied myself to take the plunge as the person grew closer to my presence. I love you Nathan i thought as i slightly picked up a wobbly uneasy leg ready to make the move.
"No,.... EMMA! someone yelled, i felt my heart shatter at the familiar voice, i gently placed the raised foot back on to the thin railing as my head swirled to get a glimpse of what stood behind me. And there he was. Nathan, the love of my life. What i had lived for. But now i just didn't have enough time left, I couldnt be with him, I'd have to leave him soon, so why not now?
"Please no Emmy" He pleaded, his eyes glistening with new formed tears, My heart dropped to my stomache at his expression. He took a few steps closer to the bridge, on which i was standing on, He held out a quivering hand to me "Please...." He said, and fresh tears formed in my eyes at the sight of his ones rolling down his bare cheeks. "Please baby, dont do this to me" He pleaded "How'd you know?" i choked out
"Because i know you" he said His icy finger gently gripped the side of my waist, as he tried to pull me down towards him, i held my ground "No Nathan" i said choking on fresh tears.
"Just let me go.... it- its for your own good!" i said my voice hoarse "i cant Emma, i love you too much." He said. i looked backed down his hands still reached out and on my waist. I gave in to his touch as i fell backwards in to him, i felt his arms securely wrap tightly around my fragile body as he stumbled backwards with me. He pressed his nose to my hair and inhaled, sighing.
"Thankyou" He said.
