Alex (Blue belt in Judo) and Marino (Yellow belt in Judo) practice Combat Sambo at Judo and Sambo Academy. Combat Sambo is a new martial art developed for self-defense and military use. Combat Sambo uses striking/kicking from Western Kickboxing, Karate and Muay Thai with grappling/submissions (Judo, Jiu-Jitsu and different styles of Wrestling). Kicking, punching, take downs, throws, chokes, arm locks, leg locks are allowed in Combat Sambo.
Looks like so much fun! I wish I had a Sambo class in my area.

@charlieapeshit it is fun :-) combining grappling and striking under control environment is always fun. I am sure there's a Sambo school near you, where do you live?

@pcjudosambo I live in Prince George... it's in northern B.C., Canada. The only Sambo schools in Canada seem to be on the east coast unfortuneatly. I plan on getting into Judo and kickboxing soon as those are in my town but I would love to find a Sambo school. It seems like alot of fun and a very complete martial art.

@charlieapeshit it is fun and many do believe that it's a complete martial art but make sure you learn Combat Sambo and not Sport Sambo (although Sport Sambo is part of Combat Sambo).

@pcjudosambo ... What are the major differences between sport and combat Sambo?
charlieapeshit 1 year ago
@charlieapeshit Sport Sambo is for competition. It's similar to Judo (throws, pins, ground work, grappling, arm locks and massive on leg locks BUT there's no choking in Sport Sambo). Combat Sambo is like MMA but more towards real life (for self defense reasons). In Combat Sambo, you throw (judo & wrestling style throws), choke (judo chokes), arm locks, leg locks & you can strike (you can use Kickboxing, Muy Thai, Karate, etc) in Combat Sambo. Youtube it and see what I mean.
