Text 'Albert' to 82540 to donate £3 to AKT*

The Albert Kennedy Trust, a charity that helps support LGBT youths has released a shocking new film showing how the lives of many gay people could have taken a very different turn had they not received support when they needed it most. The 60" commercial features some famous gay celebrities and shows what might have been for them had they not had support.

A few words from AKT...

It has been a fab experience for the Albert Kennedy trust and we hope you will find the time to learn more about us and visit our site at www.akt.org.uk Don't forget, as well as texting, if you can AKTNOW and donate £15 you will make an even bigger difference and provide one nights accommodation for a young person we support. We ask that you share the link with your friends, family and via Facebook and Twitter and really make a true difference to many lgbt youth.

Thank you all in advance and keep supporting

With thanks and love
The Albert Kennedy Trust

*75% of your donation will go directly to AKT with 25% covering administration costs for the texting service.

  • I'm gonna try and help you guys anyway I can, I wrote a poem so people will hopefully donate money, and I'm writing a letter to OUT magazine to make you charity more aware. Don't worry, I care, and despite living across the ocean in Canada I want to help because I care and I want to help.

  • @MegaOrwell1984 Hi, thanks so much for your comments and your deidcated work, if you want to know more please email darren@akt.org.uk and I will happily offer any support

    :)

  • can someone please tell me the song used in the background of this video, i think its beautiful and would like to find it. thanks for any help, its greatly appreciated. :)

  • @inferior321 The song is a cover of 'Creep' by Scala and the Kolacny Brothers. When we were making the film, we knew we that this was the only song that would do. It's so haunting, always sends shivers down my spine.

  • @AKTNOWCAMPAIGN could you message me/ reply with a link to the cover ? thanks

  • Amazing. Well done all concerned.

  • seeing Sir Ian Mckellen like that is truly upsetting. :'(

  • I dont know what to do with the like button...i kind of want to like it because i love the cause but i really dislike stuff like this can happen DX conflicted emotions...imma just share it on facebook, email it to everyone i know and if i find the time to donate do that too.

  • @NormbrettaMod Indeed, funny how one views change later in life.

  • @MegaOrwell1984

the funny thing with me was, most seven year old kids, when they're watching a film are in it purely for action or humour etc...and for most films, i was the same. but the lord of the rings, sure the battle scenes gave me a thrill but it was perhaps the only film i ever watched where i didn't skip to the "interesting" bits. i remember crying at bits that most seven year olds wouldn't understand. it really affected me and i'd say has made so much effect to change my world view.

  • @NormbrettaMod Well with me it was because I figured they were not good because they seemed boring. The irony is that now I'm the complete opposite. In fact if I met my younger self, I probably wouldv'e thought of myself as an incultured brat, who would not know what a good film is. Because now I only view the best and the classic (though I watch a "bad film" from time to time, and I even have a soft spot for cult classic and "so bad it's good film.")

  • @MegaOrwell1984

same :/ i was about seven when i became obsessed with it though and that was after the FotR came out on DvD so my parents figured the other films wouldn't be appropriate...i'll never forgive them...

  • @NormbrettaMod Yeah, in fact one regret I have is not seeing the films in theaters. Here's hoping they'll reshow them in theaters to clelebrate the realease of the hobbit.

  • @MegaOrwell1984

not a day goes by when i don't think of the lord of the rings and years after i first saw the movies, just picturing the end of the return of the king makes me cry as if i were at a funeral. beautiful films. but yeah, besides sir ian mckellen, all the people in' this are just british tv characters so i doubt there names will mean anything to you. hope i helped though.
