If every Axis soldier were fitted a MG42, Allies would've their asses kicked. :D
Awesome vid.

@TheAlexagius It is just a common exaggerated stereotype about brutal soviet officiers shooting their soldiers. Many of those officers were actually 20 years old boys themselves. And by the way officer in any army is allowed to shoot his soldier during battle if he is retreating and not following officer's orders.

@DanteRizo The soviets also used shields of the same sort for individual men but all it mostly did was serve as a point to fire on as well as leave the unprotected from any angle other than straight on.
As well the MG42 tripod came with an attached periscope.

Very very interesting. Thanks a lot C2builder!!!
Are these machine guns yours?

It's still better than nothing. Also, while it doesn't stop AP ammo, it will stop smaller projectiles like secondary projectiles from mortar or artillery shells, and so on. machineguns wouldn't be facing each other as often as they would be standing up to shelling :)
Thank you for the video, enjoyed it while not enirely agreeing with some points :)

best machinegun ever!

@C2builder Shot the 42 and loved it, but damn I would to get my hands on an FG :)

Sooo, does that make the MG-42 ambidextrous then?
-
On the loading sequence, I thought the difference was pretty darn miniscule, having to charge before or after.

I've looked around, and this is the best comparison on all of youtube. great job!
Have you ever gotten to build or shoot an FG 42?

@oddcarl1 No but hope to some day.

I saw Soviet soldiers pulling the M.G on wheels and had a shield plate to protect the gunner. They would pull, it turn it around, load and start shooting. the MG-42 had all sorts of bells and whistles on the mount where in cases of extreme panic would be, to me, harder to set up.
The Sg43 is crude compared to the MG-42. To me the MG-42 mount (not the bi-pod) was way too tall. (sniper phobia). but what do I know.

@DanteRizo The MG42 Lafette tripod could be adjusted to various hieghts so yes it could be positioned fairly close to the ground. The SG43 wheeled mount did very little to help assist the gunner other than hold the gun.

Hello C2builder,
Great work! Can you tell me how your MG42 is stamped? With Jugo M53 parts?
