@cleptuno this an original soundtrack, how dare you think that you are in a position to change anything that the red army choir perform
-
@cleptuno it was sung by british troops in ww1. tipperary being in ireland, which at that time was part of great britain, a fight song. thje real guys who sung this song were in the biggest fight that mankind created,ww1. oh! people died, before, during, and after the song was sung.

@USMCMIAMI Ah okay, I know it from myself to search for something like that. I wish you good luck for finding it soon :-)

@happyboozer Oh I'm not saying this sounds bad. It's just that I've been hearing a different version sung without the fanfare tones and accents since I was a kid....I think I must have heard it from a war movie and I can't recall which....definitely a movie much older than Das Boot.

@USMCMIAMI Why that? Red Army Choir is the best choir ever
-
one of the greatest interpretations of the Tepparary Song!!!!!!!!!!!

Es ist wirklich komisch, das die Version vom "Red Army Choir" in dem Film verwendet wurde, aber ich kann bestätigen, es ist genau diese Aufnahme...

I am from Tipperary. It is a County in the south of Ireland. The song was re-worked from an older version and recorded by John McCormack the famous Irish Tennor as 'It's a long way to Tipperary'. It was a big hit when released during wartime Britain (1915). It became a favourite song sung by soldiers of all sides on the march or civillians in their homes. To 'yankeesgeek202' I would suggest the chorus you refer to was merely taken from this song (like many American marches)
just a little fun fact
the main chorus is the tune to the University of Missouri's fight song

@yankeesgeek202
Can you provide some reference about it?
Maybe it is referring to other theme of the original soundtrack of this film, however, this issue, it is said, was interpreted by the Red Army Choir...

i was doing a history essay and somewhere along the line i came to this song and i realized it sounded oddly familiar and later found out the main chorus was to the tune of this song.

@yankeesgeek202
I understand you mean, however, the origins and details of the history of his composition may be interesting...
Whit this: What is revealed in reference to this composition and their performers for the movie: Das boot?
For this movie, that version was arranged by the Red Army Chorus... Or Isn't it?
If isn't it, I can change it...

I do not speak German too... But...
Yes, that version was maked for a germany movie, but it's British and the Choir is the "Red army choir"... By this the title: A name of English song in English, a name of Germany movie in Germany, and the original name of that chorus (in English)...
