Louisianavoice.com publisher/writer Tom Aswell recently published his findings that a number of Louisiana legislators (perhaps as many as 30) have been billing state taxpayers for expenses incurred attending conferences of the American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC). The problem with that is that ALEC appears to pay for most of those expenses themselves through something called ALEC "scholarships." That could make those Louisiana legislators double-dippers, something generally frowned upon by the public and law enforcement. Tom provided an overview of his findings at Brown Bag Lunch #4 in Baton Rouge last week. Here's some video from that.
