Here's some vintage footage of Kyudokan Seisan kata performed by Shimabukuro Katsuyuki/島袋勝之(先生) one of Higa Yuchoku's students.

My thanks to Mr. Indishe Senanayake who had his Kyudokan friend, Natsuko san, contact Itokazu Sensei to help identify Shimabukuro Hanshi... now 82 years old... as the performer of this kata. Appreciation to all :-)

  • Thanks Mario ... much appreciated. I just received confirmation that his given name is Katsuyuki [now 82]. Apparently he originally studied under Chibana before becoming part of the Kyudokan; as you said, later became associated with your old group, the Gohakukai.

  • Okinawa Karate ? I see the same move we use in Fukien/Fujian White Crane (Taiwan) and it is said that Okinawa Karate has its roots in Fukien/Fujian White Crane.

  • Great video. That's Shimabukuro sensei (his first name escapes me at the moment). He was a student of Higa Yuchoku but for over a decade has cross trained with Tokashiki Iken.
