The U.S. Men's National Team grabbed a crucial 1-0 win against Jamaica in FIFA World Cup Qualifying. The USA returned to Columbus Crew Stadium, site of some of its greatest Qualifying triumphs, to host Jamaica in rematch of a game played just four days earlier in Kingston. Herculez Gomez grabbed the lone goal for the USA who moved to the top of Group A with the win.

USA failed at soccer from around 1930-1990, with a few exceptions (1950 WC win vs England, for example). But we don't suck now. We've been in every WC since 1990, and even reached the quarterfinals in 2002 and the final of the Confederations Cup in 2009. We're not in the top 10, sure, but we're comparatively one of the better countries in the world at soccer and it's not even one of our most popular sports.

why is it sad? ideally those three shots off the post would've gone in, but we dominated the game anyway.

True, but your forgetting that our best athletes play in the NFL, and NBA. When it comes to the FIBA and Basketball in the Olympics they pretty much run over every team. If that talent were to play Soccer instead it be a completly different story. I understand what your saying though.

*football
I was referring to population. Bigger population. Bigger talent pool. And it's no secret that America fails at football.
