This is one of my all time favourite films. brilliant acting and I love the dialogues!! I have this on video and can't remember how many times I've seen it. The blend of 'scary' and 'humorous' is very well done. Wish they made them like this today. Gloria Stuart looks so pretty too!! - but there's not one bad actor/actress in the whole film.

this is my favorite james whale film next to frankenstein.the setting in this movie has everything that a horror film should have the raging thunderstorm at night,the creepy butler played by the great karloff and of course the old dark house.every horror fan young or old should watch this film.the film also has an excellent cast with gloria stuart,charles laughton and karloff.

MY FAVORITE SCENE IN THIS MOVIE IS THIS ONE, SUPERB ACTING! I have to get this movie on DVD, i taped this (VHS) from Turner movie classics on cable long ago (commercial free, unlike AMC).

Is it really weird that I'm really sad about her passing? She just seemed like one of those people anyone could love...like a loving grandmother. And she really was breathtakingly beautiful in her younger years. Goodbye, Gloria.

Wow she was CUTE!!! Just heard she is R.I.P. Very sad. Still think her finest role is Titanic, even though she stopped many men in their tracks with that lingerie in this scene! :) Was this Pre-Hays Code?
