A pretty shaky home video of a Masai Giraffe named "Abby" giving birth to a calf at 2:45 pm at the San Diego zoo, 8/19/2008. It's a bit shaky because there were about 150 people behind and around me and I could only hold the camera with a single hand. But you can still see the whole thing. The birth took about 3 hours, of which I was there for about half. Quite a day.

  • the giraffe are meant to give birth this way. when the baby giraffe hits the ground it breaks the sack around it and also gives it a shock so it starts breathing. like babies get smacked on the bottom so they start crying/ breathing

  • Giraffe births are very honest:

    0:25 Welcome to the world....

    0:49 ... it sucks.

  • THUMBS UP IF THIS WAS IN THE RELATED VIDEOS OF TRUTH OR FAIL'S MOTHER'S DAY EDITION!!!

  • its alive!!! xD

  • @mattmtz8 . . uh no . . all giraffes are born like that, the 6-7ft drop starts the babie's heart. It takes the baby 1-2minutes before the baby starts moving. If the mother lays down she can kill the baby giraffe by crushing it. They are 100% supposed to be standing up when giving birth. That's how it works :)

  • GET OUTTA THERE YOU LITTLE FREAK

    lol

  • I thought that they were born in blue sacks. They are unconscience when their born, and they get dropped like 6 feet or something, not very fun. But house cats are born with underdeveloped eyes, if any light got in they would be blind for the rest of their lives, again not to fun I assume.

  • ewww. it looked like it was peeing ice tea :P

  • @mattmtz8 you idiot, they are meant to survive the drop. All giraffe's come from there and come out the same way. It survived.

  • its alive dont wurry
