  • I probably have listened and played to far more avant garde than most avant garde fans here or elsewhere. Nobody should be treated as if sacred and can't be evaluated on the merits of each performance. For example, I would easily place Braxton's Dortmund in the best 10 recordings ever made. However, his piano cds were some of the worse. He has been an inconsistent artist and that should be noted. Some fans, who worship, and don't listen keenly should be more tolerant of criticism & free speech.

  • Great avant-garde performance! Definitely "New Thing" area code. Braxton is one of our greatest musicians. If you don't like avant-garde, say so, but don't attack a great musician because you don't like that school of music. Learn some tolerance & restraint. If this video confirms that you don't like this school of music, then move on without comment. Please!

  • It's one minute long! Given that music is all about shape and development, I'd reserve judgment on 63 seconds worth, I think...

  • Utter garbage. Then again, that's what Braxton always produces. No surprise here.

  • They certainly are getting out there. I think one of the things to remember when listening to highly improvised music is that fully half of the value is in being present at the time it is created. Recording technology does few favours for the avant garde.

  • I was never a big braxton fan ,although I did like his creative music orchestra 1974(?) big band recording...I really don't like this though....
