Monteverde Costa Rica- Tree House Restaurant

If you're ever in the Monteverde/Santa Elena area it's pretty hard to miss the Tree House Restaurant... for 2 reasons. One, it's in the middle of town and two, it's got a GIANT tree growing right through the middle of it, hence the name. Check out this VIDEO to see what we think of eating at the Tree House. I've been here myself! As you say, the food is nice but indeed pricey! And I ordered a chicken burrito but got a tuna one, but it wa really nice anyway so who cares I'll just blame my lack of spanish.

They have a webcam in there too so you could wave to your family back at home (if they know you're there of course!) : )

@BIGGERLebowski I think we've been out of the States too long. This is pricey ASS food for us. They are BIG plates,,,no wonder people get so fat, we could probably split one plate and have some for a couple nights of left-overs.

the guys are right, tad pricey for costa rica's standard. besides, it's just a damn tree.

side note, the servers key (text) in your orders on a hand held device and in doing so, they are distracted by the technology and rarely make eye contact w/ you. there was live music on the night we were there, a talented acoustic guitar solo.

@zweenguyen Yeah,,,whoever thought that was a good idea was way off. Appears they're playing on their 'phone' or something...and you're right, they barely look at you.

@alexmurilloherrera You're right, the food is very good..... really, the only problem here is the little iphones the waiters use. They appear to be ignoring the customer...eye contact is important...it's a good idea, but the waiters need to be taught to use them a little more discretely. Thanx for the explanation Alexander. At the Treehouse you pay a little more,,but definitely get what you pay for.

And about the food price, well, it is good food, the place is great and our staff is very nice to people, for all of this we have to pay, so the prices we have go according to our expenses, if we charge less we won't be able to rent such a beautiful place to let you guys have dinner in the canopy of a tree.

Hello!

I am the one who thought that taking orders with an iPod Touch is a good idea, and guess what, it is not only good, it is a great idea!

It is not that they text entry the order in the device, the device has a complete software developed by myself to let waiters take the orders, orders go straight to the kitchen, the bar and the cashier.
