Polygamist Stars of Sister Wives Hope to Raise 'Moral and Ethical' Children

Get ready for some real-life Big Love.

The stars of TLC's Sister Wives will offer viewers a glimpse into the every-day lives of all 18 members of the Brown family -- but the household isn't as unconventional as many may think, according to Kody Brown's wives.

"That's how most of us are known, [as] polygamists," wife No. 2 says in a sneak peek at the show, which premieres Sunday (10 p.m. ET). "I don't know. My name is Janelle."

Kody's first wife, Meri, 39, hopes the family's 13 children will lead a lifestyle that they want -- even if it means breaking away from tradition -- "as long as they are strong and firm in what they want to do and what they want to believe and that they're not following somebody else."

Adds Janelle, 40, who has six children with Kody: "If we raise productive, contributing members of society who are moral and ethical, that's our final goal. Whatever their path is."

What is the difference between this guy and a Muslim man with 4 wives?

at least the Muslim man his religion permits him to have 4 wives, and yet we look down on Muslim people when they do this.

The sad part in all this, that this Kody person thinks what he is doing is right, and he doesn't know that he is damaging the psych of the wives and the children, and scaring them for life.

Islam says marry one or 2 or 3 or 4 or 10 but if you cant be fair among them marry one,

and in order for men to marry there are other rules apply such getting permission from first wife and first wife has to chose the second wife

I'm sorry I know several gay parents, and they arent taking anything away from those children..I know two couples with adopted children and one with bio kids, and they are all awesome parents. I was raised in a communal family,I had tons of "mom"s and "dad"s that were very involved in all the kids lives and still are today.. "Alternative" families do WORK, its the parenting not the parents.. I know more people from hetero homes with dysfunctional lives/parents than I do from the communes.

Man is polygamouse by instinct. he will always desire other woman no matter how beautifull his wife is. any sane married man who claims hes never once in his life desired another woman is chatting nonsence. look at all the famous stars who cheat on their stunning wives. i dont see a problem having multiple wives providing who can fulfill all rights.
