@arpeemac I couldn't care less what it means. It looks stupid and it's a thing poolplayers only do because they've mimic'd it from someone they saw early in their poollife. Some things just shouldn't be passed on from player to player, and this thing is one of them. You will never get me to say otherwise. And i'm a poolplayer (or was) mostly snooker now. I had a temper and still can have that too. But the chalk thing is just a smartass annoying thing for me. Period. Besides that hes a good playa

tapping the table with the chalk is common to pool players; and these taps actually have corresponding meanings or connotation - a double tap signals that the player already wants the cue ball to stop; or when the cue ball is about to stop, indicating proper cue ball position. a single tap is made when an error, usually a miss was done.
try watching the entire game again, check the chalk taps and notice when they were made. =)
