Made-for-TV FOX movie (originally the pilot for a series) featuring the Marvel Comics team Generation X. It's sorta horrible. I love it.

Synopsis: A group of young mutants (humans with a genetic variation that gives them superpowers and makes them feared by the population at large) begin training at a school for heroes. Their studies are interrupted when they must rescue one of their number from a mad scientist who can enter others' dreams.

Stars Matt Frewer, Finola Hughes, Jeremy Ratchford, Heather McComb, Agustin Rodriguez, Randall Slavin, Bumper Robinson, Suzanne Davis, Amarilis, Kevin McNulty, Kavan Smith, Tyler Labine, and others.

Because in the 90's, Marvel was owned by "New World Enterprises". a media conglomeration that, among other things, owned a cut rate movie and TV production company. They would churn out Marvel related projects as cheap and quickly as possible while publishing for the dumbest, most gimmicky comics around.

This show was pretty much the nadir.

After awhile, the fans got sick of the crap and left Marvel in droves. By 1999, they were on the verge of closing house altogether.

Is it just me, or is Frewer trying to channel Jim Carrey here?

Didn't UPN9 have a spin off tv show similar to this? Think it aired around the same time as Gene Roddenberry's Earth's Final Conflict.

There has been a dearth of minority comic book heroes for many years, characters for young minority readers to identify with. I'm not say being the same "race" is necessary but lends to the it could be me quality, its the reason why they made Jubilee white, its the reason Emma, Banshee, and the characters they replaced Chamber and Husk with stayed white.

As the central characters they had to appeal to the most people so goodbye Ms Saigon, hello Ms America. Sorry brown people its just business.
