@Allie468 One of the main reasons Mary Seacole was not as popular after the Crimean War is down to two main reasons. One of which Florence Nightingale actually overcame, But that is the fact that Mary was female. At this point in History, England was very prejudiced towards women. Also, Mary was Black. At this time, segregation was still very high. Lot's of people simply didn't like her because of where she was from and her skin colour. However Florence developed ideas for Medicine, Mary did not

Also you the video was wrong a few times. She wasn't born in 1789, she was born in 1820.

@Allie468 While your right in saying they're both great people. Mary Seacole, IN THE EYES OF THE PUBLIC, was an ant compared to Florence Nightingale when they bot ALIVE. I think the reason people tend to favour Seacole, is because she was neglected in her time so this would be a way of compensating for that lack of appreciation, and I think that people try to take Florence down a notch, because it doesn't seem fair that she got a massive amount of appreciation in comparison to Seacole.

She is a well known woman to this day !

@naokiboy You're a fool if you think that!
A)I don't think it is your place to judge Florence in the first place. You didn't know her so you cannot say she was a terrible person.
B)It seems to me that you're prejudice against her because she got recognition for what she did. Mary Seacole did amazing things AS WELL, and I googled her and she came up right away. She did get recognition. Maybe not as much as Florence, but I don't get why you think there can only be one war hero here. Can't we agree that BOTH of them did amazing works?
