That was one of the reasons I volunteered for the Navy when I was 17. My family has a long military history. There is not one single war or police action that the United States has been in that has not had at least one member of my family in it. There are several who died in the service to their country. I was well aware of that fact when I volunteered. Even more aware of it during Desert Storm. I was blessed to serve with MANY truly brave men and women.

I took the challenge. I bought both the single and the bands album. it's about time someone did the anthem justice and brought it into the 22nd Century. The traditional version aside, its is the best rendition of The Star Spangled Banner I have heard. Keep the faith.

These two are being used as straw men. They were commenting on either the melodic quality (it's inspiring, but no, I don't have it on my iPod), or the fact that it is about war and violence; an unfortunate truth to our greatness is that we had to kill our way to the top.

I like our national anthem, but I'm not the least bit offended by either of these gentlemen. They are not political figures enacting policy change, they are civilians expressing themselves.

That's a freedom I served to protect.
