The Heavy Airlift Wing (HAW) is a multinational military airlift organization based at Pápa Air Base, Hungary. It was officially activated on July 27, 2009 as part the NATO Strategic Airlift Capability. The wing operates three C-17 Globemaster IIIs. The wing provides strategic airlift worldwide for humanitarian, disaster relief, and peacekeeping missions in support of the European Union, United Nations, and NATO. The wing has flown into Iraq. And supports the NATO International Security Assistance Force mission in Afghanistan.

The NATO users are:

USA
Norway
Hungary
Estonia
Bulgaria
Lithuania
Netherlands
Poland
Rumania
Slovenia

Some NATO-friendly uses are:

Sweden
Finland

After the USAF, the Royal Swedish Air Force will have the second highest hours of usage of the C-17's, estimated to around 550 hours a year which is about 17% of the overall usage.

One of the first mission the squadron ever had was to fly 30 Swedish R32 Galten armored vehicles down to Afghanistan to the Swedish Area of service.

In 2009, the C-17's flew down several Swedish CV90's as reinforcement.

In 2010 the unit flew Swedish relief material to Haiti after the earthquakes.

I do not own the copyrights of this movie. I merely wish to spread the actions of Sweden and the alliance of amongst the Swedish Air force usage of the planes.
More footage of the Swedish Armed Forces can be found at the Swedish Armed Forces website or their youtube channel.
