Vintage Radio Aircheck of Kansas City's "All New" Super-Q! KBEQ, and I'm Barney Rubble for the few months I worked there. I didn't like KC all that well and my old station KEYY, called and wanted me to come back and do mornings... I left Kansas City, but that wouldn't be the end of it all...

  • I was only 10 or so when I started listening to SUPER Q. Best station ever! This video brought back so many memories. I actually have the part about you talking about your new watch on a tape some where in my childhood collection.

Do you have any tapes with the Q ZAP on it. I loved hearing those as a kid. I have them on tape if I could only find them and still had a tape player. Post some more!

  • @ronlisa94 Unbelievable - That made my joke writing subscription worth it. I loved those days, sorry no tapes and things other than a few scraps. Thanks for commenting.

  • Grew up with SuperQ. I worked at the Q in the 90's. Lot's diffrerent! Who was the newscaster? I remember Bob Mead in the mornings..Doesn't sound like him. Great check though. Rick

  • Staff was "churning" while I was still there... I don't remember Bob Mead. Glad you enjoyed the ol' AirCheck.. From the all new Super Q! JimH

  • I have a box full of carts and tape reels....

  • Cool aircheck! I was born in 86, but I love hearing how it was back then.

  • awesome!!!! your 16 was 1 #1 hit...

  • I listen to the Q back in 1972 when I was a senior at Lee's Summit high school - they played "Stairway to Heaven" @ 11:00pm each week night. When this song was over it was lights out for me. I still relate to that to this day. Also reminds me of Sunday's at Volker Park (it's all kind of hazy).

  • Super Q plays Favories -whatever happened to stone cannon? I miss steve so much!

  • Absolutely fantastic! Those were the days in KC radio history. Super Q was the best back then. WHB was AM and not in stereo... so it was awesome to be able to hear the hits "In Stereo" on the fabulous Q. Bobby Day is on KCMO FM in Kansas City these days. After a little research it looks like this is from 1974.

    Thanks for the aircheck.

  • This is so VERY cool! I grew up in KC, graduated from Van Horn High School in 1980, and didn't go a day without listening to Super Q!!! And yes, Mr. Rubble.. you took TONS of my requests!!

  • Where is Young Bobby Day these days?
