wow, beautiful.

GREAT SINGER
-
Dusty of course sang this with the Springfields some years before. It lacks brother Tom's and Tim Feilds harmonies but is a beautiful and sensitive version of this Civil War song...... Dusty solo is grand!!!!

@rocknrollchick60s Melissa Manchester.
This song was actually originally performed by Harry Belafonte. Interesting juxtaposition with The American Adventure in Epcot--much less the interlude in Disneyland's "Great Moments With Mr. Lincoln."

This song is about the American Civil War.
I heard that Dusty was a great reader of American history...and a Civil War buff in particular. She knew the details of a lot of the major battles and the people involved. How's that for adding a new dimension to someone you thought you knew? I was floored... actually, I shouldn't have been... I understand that she was a very intelligent and interesting person to those who really knew her.

The thing i love most about this DVD is that it proved Dusty could sing ANYTHING, and with such apparent ease. Shame on the idiots at the BBC for losing the other half of the series.
