The Karakoram Highway (KKH) is the highest paved international road in the world. It connects China and Pakistan across the Karakoram mountain range, through the Khunjerab Pass, at an altitude of 4,730 metres, by far the highest paved international border crossing in the world. It connects China's Xinjiang region with Pakistan's Northern Areas and also serves as a popular tourist attraction.

Hunza Valley (Urdu: ہنزہ) is a valley near Gilgit and Nagar vallies in the Northern Areas of Pakistan. The Hunza valley is situated at an elevation of 2,438 metres (7,999 feet). The territory of Hunza is about 7,900 km² [3,050 sq, miles]. Karimabad is the main town which is a popular tourist attraction in Pakistan because of the spectacular scenery of the surrounding mountains like Rakaposhi 7,788 m (25,551 ft), Ultar Sar (7,388 m), Bojahagur Duanasir II (7,329 m), Ghenta Peak (7,090 m), Hunza Peak (6,270 m), Darmyani Peak (6,090 m) and Bublimating (Ladyfinger Peak) (6,000 m).
Hunza was formerly a princely state in the northernmost part of the Northern Areas of Pakistan, which existed until 1974. The state bordered the Gilgit Agency to the south, the former princely state of Nagar to the east, China to the north and Afghanistan to the northwest. The state capital was the town of Baltit (also known as Karimabad). The area of Hunza now forms the Aliabad tehsil of Gilgit District.
Hunza was an independent principality for 900 years. The British gained control of Hunza and the neighbouring valley of Nagar between 1889 and 1892. The Tham (Chief) of Hunza escaped to China.
The British retained Hunza's status as a 'principality' until 1947. According to Habib R. Sulemani, the people of Hunza were ruled by a local Mir for more than 900 years, which came to an end in 1974.
Although never ruled directly by neighbouring Kashmir, Hunza was a vassal of Kashmir from the time of Maharaja Ranbir Singh of Jammu and Kashmir. The Mirs of Hunza sent an annual tribute to the Kashmir Durbar until 1947, and along with the ruler of Nagar, was considered to be among the most loyal vassals of the Maharaja of Kashmir. • @hibyehi2002 Long live pak china friendship...for how long? The way the Chinese is behaving towards the Uyghurs and it's other neighboring countries. Including the military build up in the Southeast Asian regions. You better keep your eyes open. And watch your back, too. 11 thumbs up all have their heads above the clouds...

  • @hibyehi2002 China is useing pakistan more then the U.S is you fools they only got big with America because they want what the U.S wants fucking bafoon

  • Yes, after having travelled & lived in many places, I have to admit that mountain ranges of Pakistan are daunting, scary, formidable & beautiful. I hope Pakistanis have sense not to destroy their northern culture for a bit of glitz of the stupid West. They have a civilization of more than 5,000 years, don't let it succumb. Get the technology of the West & adapt it to this area. It would be a great place for Eco Tourism. Take nothing but photo, leave nothing but footprint. It is pristine.
