1976 recording of Sam Cookes "A Change Is Gonna Come" by Seattle Band Child. Featuring, Rick Randle, Mick Flynn, Tim Turner, John O'Connor, Lance Baumgartel. Recorded at the Music Farm in Seattle. Photos by Richard Green and the band
I remember this band playing for a dance at my High School MTLK TERR in the 70's then about 6 years ago I ended up meeting Lance Baumgartel up here in Skagit Valley. Became good friends with him, spent hours talking about music. and yes he still plays from time to time
Just met John O'Connor the other day after seeing him in his hotrod. Nice guy, and I've never seen Child, but as West Seattleite, I remember the name.....hell I bought a Fender Bassman from Mick Flynn's guitar shop on California Ave...wish I still had it. Went to school with a gal, who is Tim Macheck's (of Striker) sister in law, another well known Seattle band. Now I gott get out and hear John's trio.
I recall when these guys hauled their gear in what once was a wonder bread van. Seeing all the venues really brought back alot of fond memories. Thanks for the post. After all these years I still hold Child as one of my favorite bands ever.
They were so talented! I don't recall Tim ever having short hair back then...
