This is a video of Leo who is a retired radiologist. (He's already taken so don't get any ideas.)
In May of 2007 he was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease and was prescribed Aricept. His symptoms were not relieved by the meds and he had a consistent downward decline.
In Jan 2008 we learned of Dr Tobinick's treatment with etanercept (Enbrel) for AD and decided to take the leap and try to bring back some of his dynamic personality. After just the first treatment, his disposition and interaction changed dramatically to the point where people who didn't know he had received a treatment were making comments about the change in his personality.
I'm looking forward to your reactions and your postings.
god speed on his progress and your caring for him. god bless you

I can understand its frustrating not knowing what's wrong w/ your friend esp. w/ violent outbursts. Truth: family may not know. For the longest time our family was told-not alzheimer. There are other diseases similar to alz. like pick's disease for ex. Living w/ this disease in my family -we didn't tell people right away. a family needs to come to terms with it on their own 1st. i hope&pray they do as it sounds like you are a good friend that would help/support them which is what they need.

Does anyone know how to get in touch with armoandleo? i've tried to email - not to be a pest. I'm just desperate to find answers or help for my Dad. I miss more and more of him with each day that goes by ... thank you for your help.

My best friend is taking aricept and namenda and he says he does not have Alzheimers disease! He says he has a severe brain injury! I cant believe that! My friend had An Alzheimers situation here at my apart ment before he was arrested for holding a knife to my sisters throat! BUT, IT was not his fault! His family will not tell me nothing! I am so heartbroken!

Thanks so much for your comments and encouragement. I am not sure how much he will regain but at least he is with us in mind and spirit when we are together and when we are socializing.
The injection is given perispinally, below the base of the neck. He feels very little discomfort from the shot.

Amazing video! I loved the comment "I'm not afraid to talk anymore" Are things still improving? I care for my 91 year old mother with advanced Alzheimer's, do what ever you can to keep all your functioning. Good luck.

This is amazing. I take enbrel for psoriasis and had no idea about this off label use. It's wonderful. Is it injected the same way?
