Ian "Hankpiece" Schwartz plays the song Octopus by Jonathan William Coulton, the Colchester Kid.

If anybody is curious the instrument is a vintage Islander Ukette from the 1950's. It's made from injection molded plastic and is about 16" long.

Chords are from here:

  • Nice. How did you tune the uke?

  • your vocals were not perfect, but for no lessons you did a good job, much better than i ever could. your ukulele was great though

  • Hey. You're awesome. Great work. However,Iz was enormous. He might have you beat in size ratio, even while playing a baritone. Either way, I'm a huge JoCo fan and you're swell.

  • Amazing to hear actual and distinct chords coming from that instrument. Good job!

  • This dude is awful

  • Nice job, sir. And despite what others may have said, I thought the singing was okay. I mean, it's not so bad that I wanted to turn it off -- quite the contrary, I found the song easy to listen to and the melody is nice. Your playing is super. Cheers.

  • your voice isn't overly melodic, but you seemed to have gotten the tones right.

For a piece of plastic, that tiny little instrument sounded pretty nice.

  • Of course, I absolutely meant it to be constructive. And honest.

  • I'm really sorry you didn't like it. Despite having studied music, I never took vocal lessons. But I'm always trying to improve. I'm sure you meant for this feedback to be constructive! Keep checking in.

  • Wow. I haven't seen this until now, and it's great! Aaaah. I am longing for an ukette :D

    Cool song!

    Regards, Wilfried
