Are you purposefully not doing the [down+jump] (and then mash the jump button with the down button held to charge up) combo to spin? Because you can speed through the level so much faster.

@ddukki Check yo' facts! You cannot do that (spindash) in Sonic 1 for the Mega Drive. The feature was introduced in Sonic 2.
