@muttkat1 it has much much higher value (working or not) as a vintage computer. Some commodores (64, 128) can be sold for a few hundred depending on functionality and accessories.

My father had a commodore computer from around 1970. Does that have any gold in it. I use to go scavenging alot and use to bring him extras. Being they take up alot of space shall I tear them apart? I have electronics from the 70's laying around, is there anything else I can scrap from them besides gold?

Greg, This is my business. We purchase PC motherboards, processors, etc. It can be VERY profitable, in volume.

the board does not work , I can see scraping that board , If you have a solder kit you can fix the Capacitors & get over $8.00 for working boards rather than $2.00 for scrap , it's best to sell it as a working part to a person building a Computer & I have 800 working PC's and enough parts to build 300 more ! :) QC

dont give "bottom lines" on things that you know nothing about. all you should have done for this person was refer them to a well known website that can fill them in on how to refine e-scrap for pennies per pound. theres a good reason why e-scrap refiners are considered hobbyists. best advice- if you have a way to get gold plated parts for NOTHING, sell them as 'gold recovery' lots on ebay. the hobbyists bid very high on that stuff, because its just a hobby.
Please delete if you don't want this posted, but my company purchases computer motherboards ($1.62 a pound), processors (from $5 a pound to $45 a pound), etc.. I own the company, and I find that I pay higher than many refineries. Thatnks Greg. Happy New years. Bill
