5:33 - 6:12,extremely moving.I thought of this interview when watching Christopher Hitchens being interviewed by Stephen Sackur on BBC Worldwide for what might be CH's last tv interview. There's something profound and awesome about watching gents going 'off into that good night, raging against the dying of the light.' One of my favourite films is David Lynch's 'The Straight Story' in what proved to be Richard Farnsworth's last role.

BBC4 are rebroadcasting The Singing Detective starting tonight. What better time to listen to the wisdom and experience of Dennis Potter. Such a brilliant television writer, so clever and so knowledgable. Watching this interview for the upteenth time and I still sob but each time my respect for both Potter and Bragg increases. Doesn't make the tears any less sad, but hey, thanks so much for posting this.

I remember watching this first time around. But to watch it again and reflect on the words is incredible and more moving. A more genuine and humane man I dont think you will ever meet. Pure genius.

I was delighted to find this interview after so long. I have the same affliction as Dennis Potter (Psoriatic arthropophy) but nowhere near as acute. It was this that reminded me of this interview. Such a great man. The world could do with a few more like him.

What an absolute genius. The Singing Detective series is unbelievable.
"Thank you Melvin. You made it easy, but then you always do". A marvellous end to the interview, and so wise to let us see beyond the end - it demonstrates respect all round. A huge thank you herefordmsv for making the interview available. Bless you.
