  • A great video, really stiring speech by Johnnie Walker, i love Radio Caroline but she's just not the same on land! whats the name of the song being played in the back ground?

  • The music playing on this is called ballad of the Green Bere by Alan Moorhouse - You can here this and whole event again at Pirate Radio Sales...

  • This seems rather twee now, but for us 60's kids this was the start of the revolution against state oppression.

Sadly, in March 1968 the original Caroline was shut down, and for me the 60's stopped swinging.

Having said that, the 60's only swung in 3 streets in Chelsea. The rest of us watched it on the News at ten!! ;-)

  • It looks like Radio Caroline and the other the '60's pirates will soon be in the news again.

In April 2009 there is a film called "The boat that rocked" being released.

It's set on a North Sea Pirate station in 1966, and will hopefully introduce a whole new generation to those great stations which were listened to by millions at the time.

    Hurray!!
